Mission statement
The LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf (Hospital of the Heinrich-Heine University
Düsseldorf) integrates a wide range of competencies involved in the
provision of mental healthcare. Medical progress, the evolution of our
society’s values and the structural changes of the healthcare system
are challenges that we are actively facing by promoting the constant
development of new approaches in medical care, research and academic
teaching. Our management, doctors and staff are guided by the following
principles:
s The physical well-being of our patients is the be all and end all of our
activities at the Klinikum. We respect their dignity and treat them with
courtesy and consideration.
s We work together to provide the best possible conditions for a successful
course of treatments. By this we mean: the highest possible degree
of recovery, lasting good health and the ability to lead a self-determined
and full life.
s One of our objectives is to make our patients understand their illnesses
better and to come to terms with them. We also want to help our
patients to assess and judge potential treatments and to assist us in our
decisions. In close coordination with the patients themselves, we strive to
make their families contribute to the success of their treatment.
s Research and academic training are key tasks of the LVR-Klinikum. We
are committed to a range of quality objectives and quality targets. We
are engaged in a widening network of regional, national and international
joint ventures and always strive for a quick implementation of the latest
research results into our everyday medical practice.
s The high quality of the services of the LVR-Klinikum is the result of
the skills and commitment of all staff members as well as the staff’s
readiness to adapt to and face new challenges. For this, they receive
the full support of the hospital management. Staff and management
deal with each other in a climate of openness and mutual respect.
s Our managers always demonstrate exemplary commitment. They
identify clear targets for their staff, design effective organisational
processes and make sure that everyone is on board.
s By conducting carefully planned campaigns and demonstrating
personal commitment to the cause, we strive to improve the way people
with mental illnesses are perceived by the wider public. We combat
prejudice and discrimination and are working towards more acceptance
of and understanding for people with for mental illnesses.
s We are continuously improving the quality of our performance in
all sections of the LVR-Klinikum – in ways that can be quantified by
objective criteria.
s We are actively engaged in joint ventures with the hospitals of the
Landschaftsverband Rheinland and the hospitals of other public bodies,
embracing best clinical practice as a guide and source of inspiration.
s Economic success is a key condition for the safe future of our hospital.
In order to achieve this objective, we act responsibly, cost-effectively
and in full awareness of environmental concerns.
