Neurological illness without mental disorders Frequently treated patient groups who require neurological care or combined care at the neighbouring General Hospital suffer from: s Disturbed cerebral blood flow s Epilepsy or cerebral seizures s Peripheral-neurological disorders as a consequence of head injuries or surgery Disturbed cerebral blood flow is numerically the largest group of all neurological illnesses. The division provides neurological care and advice at the Sana Hospital in Gerresheim. After diagnostics and acute therapy, these patients require differentiated treatment, which is provided by the Division of Neurology at the LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf. This also applies to people suffering from cerebral epileptic seizures. The situation is similar for peripheral neurological care required in the wake of emergency surgery and senology performed at the Sana Hospital in Gerresheim and required by the LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf, mainly by the Division of Dependence Disorders (alcoholic neuropathies, pressure palsies). lVr-KlINIKUM DÜSSelDOrF – HOSPItal OF tHe HeINrIcH-HeINe UNIVerSItY DÜSSelDOrF 2.2.1.6 Division of Rehabillitation The Division of Social Rehabilitation at the LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf currently has 68 places, divided between one onsite communities (20 places) and three external communities (10, 11 and 17 places), which strive to achieve the active social rehabilitation of their members, and one transitional unit (10 places) that combines social rehabilitation with medical and professional rehabilitation. In the period between 2001 and 2008, 111 members of these residential communities were discharged while 89 new people from the region who were in search of rehabilitation were admitted. On-site community House 15 The on-site community House 15 was constructed in 2006 as a replacement for two older buildings. The House provides 16 group places (four residential groups with four members each) and four individual places (single-occupancy apartments). The House provides its inhabitants with a maximum of individuality and protection of their private spheres, but also a certain degree of social encounters and community experience. It accommodates groups (providing 20 places for four residential communities with four members each) and individuals (in four single-occupancy apartments). House 15 is equipped with a large enclosed garden and located at the periphery of the hospital site near the staff dormitory and the social centre. External residential community Limburgstraße 25 This building, constructed in the 1960s, comprises four spacious flats and has a large garden. It is located in central Düsseldorf near the city’s Ostpark. The infrastructure is highly suitable for the provision of community-based psychiatric care. The building housed the first external residential community of the Klinikum’s Division of Social Rehabilitation.
