The focus of the research laboratory’s work is essentially
related to cognitive and emotional-affective impairments
in schizophrenic psychoses as well as – based upon this
– related to the development of a functional diagnostic
approach to psychopathology. Within this context,
neuropsychological predictors of relapse in schizophrenia
and alcohol dependency are investigated in more detail,
and rehabilitative interventions for cognitive impairments
in schizophrenia are developed and evaluated. In addition,
the research laboratory is active in national multi-centre
evaluation studies on cognitive behavioural therapy in
people with schizophrenia. The Department cooperated
closely with the “Long-term Treatment of Schizophrenic
Psychoses”, “Dependence Disorders” and “Transcranial
magnetic stimulation” research groups, as well as the
Neuropsychiatry Research Laboratory.
