children have been involved in aggressor/victim conflicts. In
cooperation with the specialist institute for violence prevention
of the state capital Düsseldorf, and with the support of
the capital’s crime prevention board, the “Faustlos” crime
prevention curriculum has been used in Düsseldorf primary
schools to prevent aggressive behaviour among school
children and at the same time promote social skills. The
effects of the project were evaluated, and it was found that
school children are clearly benefiting from the curriculum.
There has been a clear reduction in the instances of
aggressive behaviour as well as a clear increase in the ability
to empathise (Figures 30 and 31). The curriculum is now
taught in 40 primary schools in Düsseldorf and in over 100 day
care centres.

me” for the prevention of sexual abuse in primary schools
in the state capital Düsseldorf

The effects of the “My body belongs to me” theatre project
were tested in over 800 Düsseldorf primary schools in
children in years three and four. In addition, teachers and
parents were surveyed. School children who took part in the
project demonstrated more differentiated knowledge of the
topic of “sexual abuse” in comparison with a control group
and could name several options for actions.

The department is one of the cooperating departments in
this multi-centre trial (Figure 32). The study aims to confirm
the effectiveness of a specific training programme for
parents of children with ADHS. The parents receive support
by means of a competence training that has been tested for
many years. A scientific assistant and a student assistant
work in the department within the framework of this
study.
