of psychiatric and psychological diagnostic facilities and
therapies is provided to support each person individually
(including special consultations).
Here are some of the therapeutic interventions that are

Therapies in the Institutional Outpatient Units are mainly
designed for people who – due to the nature, the severity
and the length of their disorders – require elaborate
diagnostics and close-meshed treatment and care. The
outpatient facility also has the tasks of avoiding unnecessary
hospitalisation and preventing relapses. It has mainly been
designed to address the following disorders:
s First-episode schizophrenia
s Chronic psychoses
s Attention deficit and hyperactivity syndrome (ADHS) in
adults
s Personality disorders
s Depressive syndromes, particularly in case of
treatment resistance
s Anxiety disorders
s Obsessive compulsive disorders
s Chronic pain syndromes that are treatment resistant

s Post-traumatic stress disorders
s Somatoform disorders
s Sleep disorders
s It also provides the following services:
s Integration of family members and staff of
complementary services
s Biopsychosocial concept of therapy with a
multiprofessional approach combining
s pharmacotherapy, somatic therapy (light therapy, TMS),
psychotherapy (behaviour therapy, dialectic behaviour
therapy, psychodynamic therapies, client-centred
psychotherapy) and sociotherapy
s Outpatient psychotherapy for groups of patients and
family members
Special services include an outpatient unit for people who do
not speak German as a native language (with consultation
services in Russian, Turkish, Romanian, Croatian, Spanish,
French and Italian) and a special outpatient unit for people
with borderline personality disorder, including an outpatient
skills group that follows concepts of the dialectic behaviour
therapy after Linehan (DBT) and cognitive behaviour therapy.
In addition, the unit operates a special outpatient facility
for people suffering from depression, a special outpatient
unit for adults with attention deficit disorder/hyperkinetic
syndrome and the Special Comorbidity Outpatient Unit on
the site of the Düsseldorf University Hospital (Moorenstr.
