For automatic extraction all eventsare extracted in sequential order using the standard Courier mechanism, this includes fault. The manual approach allows the user to select randomly an event, or a fault from the storedrecords.1.5.1 Automatic event extractionThis method is intended for continuous extraction of event and fault information as it isproduced via the rear port. When new event information is created the Event bit is set within the Status byte, thisindicates to the Master device that event information is available. The oldest, unextractedevent can be extracted from the relay using the Send Event command. The relay willrespond with the event data, which will be either a Courier Type 0 or Type 3 event. The Type3 event is used for fault records.Once an event is extracted from the relay the Accept Event can be used to confirm that theevent has been successfully extracted. If all events have been extracted then the event bitwill reset, if there are more events still to be extracted the next event can be accessed usingthe Send Event command as before.1.5.2 Event typesEvents will be created by the relay under the following circumstances:• Change of state of output contact• Change of state of opto input• Protection element operation• Alarm condition• Setting Change• Fault Record (Type 3 Courier Event)1.5.3 Event formatThe Send Event command results in the following fields being returned by the relay:• Cell Reference• Timestamp• Cell Text• Cell ValueParagraph 2 contains a table of the events created by the relay and indicates how thecontents of the above fields are interpreted. Fault records will return a Courier Type 3 eventwhich contains the above fields together with two additional fields:• Event extraction column• Event numberThese events contain additional information which is extracted from the relay using thereferenced extraction column. Row 01 of the extraction column contains a setting whichallows the fault record to be selected. This setting should be set to the event number valuereturned within the record, the extended data can be extracted from the relay by uploadingthe text and data from the column.
