3.4.1 Socio-cultural dynamics<br />

Since World War II, the amount of <strong>public</strong> <strong>space</strong> designed to meet the needs of an increasingly<br />

stratified and specialised <strong>public</strong> life has multiplied (Carr et al., 1992). Two secular trends,<br />
