Man has a tendency to forget that God‘s instructions are right. He doubts whether God‘s
precepts are really good for him. He convinces himself that God‘s commandments are too
restrictive. He assumes that he knows what is best for his life. When fully persuaded of these
things, he sets out on a path that is in total disregard of God‘s Word.‖ 32
―Biblical preaching always reproves, rebukes, and exhorts. It does not tickle your ears
and go along with your own desires. So when you hear the Word preached or when you read the
Word, allow it to confront your sin. God only wounds in order to heal. When Scripture
confronts you, don‘t dodge it. By owning up to sin and turning from it, you will grow to be more
like Jesus.‖ 33
