Burnishing Bigotry - 3rd edition

Lucy #017: You next state
(without any reference to Scripture, I might
add) that God somehow gave all humans
natural sexual drives that we are called to
resist, and this claim left me wondering –
When did you decide to be straight, Lucy?
… At what age did you choose to find men
attractive instead of women? … When did
you choose to suppress your lust for
women and focus on only desiring men?
… After all, you say that ―we all have the
instinct to sin, [and] are asked to change‖,
so when did you choose heterosexuality
over the obvious alternative that you find
to be so sinful?
Lucy #018: Penultimately, you note that, ―[You] can distort and corrupt the Word of God
all you want, and you can call us bigots all you want, and it will never change The Word of God!‖
I must say, my dear Friend, I actually agree with you on this point … The problem is this
– I am not distorting the Word of God; I am merely choosing to interpret its ancient
manuscripts in the most God-honoring Way possible – and this, only after testing that Way to
make sure it bears the Fruit of the Spirit, just as the Scriptures themselves encourage
us all to do (see Matthew 7:15-20 & 1 Thessalonians 5:21) … Indeed, to do anything less
(like you are doing, I am afraid) IS to corrupt that Word!
P.S. Let it be duly noted that I do not believe that you are corrupting Jesus‘ message
purposefully – I am simply assuming the seemingly obvious: namely, that you have simply not
yet experienced the Way of Christ; that you have simply not yet chosen to courageously extend
Love & Kindness & Acceptance to those you consider to be your ―enemies‖ (or those you believe
to be ―evil‖, or even those you find to be merely ―perverse‖), and that as such you simply do not yet
understand what Jesus was clearly telling us during his ministry‘s three brilliant years.
