Lucy #517: Next Finney states that, ―Whoever pleads an excuse for sin, therefore,
charges God with blame‖, and you follow that statement by claiming that this is exactly what I
am doing in this thread – making excuses for the sin of homosexuality and the sins of
homosexuals, and thereby somehow ―blaming God‖ (presumably for His inability to provide those
sinners with enough Grace for them to stop sinning) … Of course, as is clear to anyone who has been
earnestly reading along over the past seveval weeks, I am doing NO SUCH THING!
Of course, if you are truly talking about God here – if God truly is so petty and so selfabsorbed
and so unjust – if we truly are speaking of a God who would condemn anyone to an
eternity of damnation merely for not behaving properly for a few short years of an earthly life,
then you better believe I am going to blame Him for such travesties! You better believe that I
am going to heed the call of my moral Advocate Within (see John 14:20-26) and respectfully
demand that God give us all an explanation regarding His open support of human slavery (see
Exodus 2:7 & Ephesians 6:5-9), and animal cruelty (see Genesis 9:2 & Leviticus 11:1-47), and the
denigration of women (see 1 Timothy 2:12 & 1 Corinthians 14:34-35), and genocide (see
Deuteronomy 7:1-2 & Joshua 10:40), and unjust warfare (see Numbers 31:2, 1 Samuel 15:3 & Joshua
4:13), and bigoted racism (see Numbers 25:1-13 & 2 John 1:10), and religious intolerance (see
Exodus 22:20 & Deuteronomy 13:6-10), and rape (see Deuteronomy 22:28-29 & Judges 21:10-24), and
child sex slavery (see Genesis 19:8 & Judges 1:12-13), and infanticide (see Exodus 12:29-30
& Numbers 31:17-18) … and every moral man & women reading along must do the same!
Of course, more than likely we are not talking about God at all here – more than likely
we are talking about men who erred in their interpretation of ―Divine Inspiration‖; men who
simply let their own biases & their own hatreds & their own ignorance take the place of what
God wanted them to write instead. And hence, we have the arrival of Jesus Christ – who came
to remedy this grave series of Old Testament errors, as I have clearly & repeatedly shown you
throughout this very thread (most recently on pages 709-713, where I specifically list the 62+ times
Jesus overtly expanded Old Testament regulations, the 39+ times he radically limited Old Testament
laws, and the 38+ times he effectively eliminated Old Testament edicts in the Gospel of Matthew alone.
―The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house
of Israel … not like the covenant that I made with their ancestors … This is the covenant that I will make
with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds, and write them
on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach one another
or say to each other, ―Know the Lord‖, for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
For I will be merciful towards their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.‘ In speaking of „a
new covenant‟, He has made the first one obsolete.‖ ~ Hebrews 8:8-13
