Of course, the problem doesn‘t rest with the text, my Friend, but rather with you & yours.
And that problem is the following: A) that you are fighting to use the Bible to prove a lesser,
fallible, if not downright immorally judgmental God, … and B) that even if you are correct and
God does turn out to to be a God of wrath & damnation & intolerance, then it is
actually the moral duty of every good man & woman to oppose that tyrant, not to
abandon all sense of decency by cowardly (and eternally) kissing up to Him!
I look forward to your response thereto – hopefully a response that is both on-point and
direct … And yet in the meantime, enjoy the following specific replies to this, your latest quiteintriguing

And to this I would simply say – Exactly! Matthew 5:48 – at least according to the
ancient Greek texts – is speaking of a perfection in Love that knows absolutely no flaws
whatsoever … It knows no arrogant judgment of the choices of others; it knows
no condemnation of others‘ sins; and it knows no hypocritical criticism of them
– of neither their behaviors nor their beliefs.
