Dialogue #38 … The Wisdom of Cyrus
Cyrus: Well I have to say, at least in your version of what you believe in, a brother can lay with
his brother or even a brother with his sister. So, with that way of thinking, I will keep my
opinions to myself and let all these others listen to you and make their own minds up.
Scaughdt: Cyrus, aside from the fact that ―my version‖ of things does not in any way justify
incestual relationships (if that is indeed what you are implying), I‘m pretty sure Jesus would be
thrilled with your decision to keep your personal opinions to yourself, and I am almost certain
that all of your homosexual brothers & sisters will be thrilled with that choice as well …
Bart: ONE – to love one another as he did is to include baptizing in the name of the Father the
Son and the Holy Spirit as he commanded. Those who love as Jesus did will abide in his
commandments … TWO – God‘s love is pure; that's what makes it perfect. God‘s love is sinfree;
which also makes it perfect. We love the sinner but not his sin … That applies to all of us
… THREE – God‘s love is compassionate. It is evident in John 3:16. It is also merciful in the
same verse. We must be born again as he commanded in order to receive a Spirit which is pure
and perfect. Perfect love casts out fear but its purity shields it from that which is not pure.
Scaughdt: Bart, I think you are making all of thus far more complicated than Jesus intended –
and far more complicated than it need be. Consider: ―I give you a new commandment: that you
Love one another. Just as I have Loved you, so also should you Love one another. And by this
everyone will know that you are my disciples: when you show Love for one another … My
Father is glorified by this: that you bear much fruit and become my disciples … And this is my
commandment: that you Love one another as I have Loved you.‖

P.S. And a second major passage goes with it --- Consider again: ―Do not judge, so that
you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor‘s eye, but do not notice
the log in your own? ... You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will
see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor‘s ... Truly I tell you, unless you
change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever
becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom.‖
