Lucy’s #239: Then you quote 1 Peter 2:9 to somehow explain why ―to most of the
world we [Christians] are extremely peculiar, and in many cases hated, because of our faith in
Christ.‖ … Well actually, my Friend, you & your conservative Christian brothers & sisters are
actually seen as ―peculiar‖ (and are indeed often staunchly disliked) primarily because you & yours
openly accuse others of mortal sinning while your own cups are less than clean, because you
openly evince your earnest belief that you & yours are the only ones worthy of acceptance into
Heaven (and that all other ―non-believers‖ merit an eternity in Hell), and because you & yours openly
adore & even worship a God who has neither a sound sense of unconditional Love nor a sound
sense of equitable Justice – all in stark contrast to devout Followers of The Way of Christ, who
believe in not judging lest we be ourselves judged (Matthew 7:1-2), who believe in remaining
humble as a child when dealing with others (Matthew 18:3-4), who believe in cleaning our own
cups and leaving others to clean their own (Matthew 23:25-26), and who believe in
never throwing the first stone (or any stone, for that matter – John 8:7) …
Amen to all of that!
Lucy’s #240: Next you state that, ―[Others] hate us because we make them
uncomfortable and remind them of their sin.‖
Well, speaking as one of those ―non-believers‖, this statement is not exactly accurate
either … I think most folks who seem to dislike conservative Christians do so because of the
arrogance that is embedded in your proclaimed status as ―saved‖ compared to theirs as ―damned‖
… I think most folks who seem to dislike conservative Christians do so because of the hypocrisy
that is embedded in you & yours being ―redeemed‖ through no merit of your own despite sinning
just as often (and sometimes to an even greater degree) as they do … And I think some folks who
seem to dislike conservative Christians do so because of the raw injustice & brutal callousness
that is required for you & yours to worship a God who is so petty, so pompous & so purely
unjust towards all those who do not bow down to Him in the way he wants to be adored … In
essence, Lucy, most folks innately despise tyranny in any & all of its numerous forms,
and your God is frankly one of the most profound manifestations of tyranny that I or
anyone else could ever encounter.
Personally, I don‘t hate Christians at all – not matter how aggressive or prejudiced or
arrogant they happen to be. Indeed, I actually have immense compassion for you & yours, my
Friend … Not because you are ―wrong‖ and are not going to Heaven‖ after you die. I have no
knowledge of that outcome either way (and frankly hope you do ―get there‖ one day – assuming that
there is such a ―there‖ to get to). Frankly, it
probably won‘t take long for an eternity of
kissing your God‘s capricious behind to get a
bit old (and you will probably find your
conscience wondering about the immense
suffering that your ―merciful King‖ is forcing the
billions of damned Souls to endure ―down
below‖), and yet that is your business, not
mine … No, I have Compassion for you &
yours, because while you are waiting to
possibly attain Salvation in the next life, you
are fully abandoning the free gift of entering
Jesus‘ Kingdom of Heaven in this one.
