Scaughdt: Wow, Lucy! That was some mighty powerful verbiage you blasted out there (talk
about ranting & raving!) … And though you again repeated several points that I have already
covered in this thread (some of them many times), you also brought up a few new points that I will
be honored to discuss &/or clarify as well …
But before I do, I would like to thank you again for investing so much effort into this
post, my Friend. I have Faith that it will one day be very helpful to more than a few Christians
who are looking to understand the drastic theological differences between conservative,
evangelical Paulinists and the progressive Followers of Christ (maybe it‘s helped a few of them
already) – and I bet it will also help even a few non-Christians to understand the Bible
better to boot! Anyway, that having been said, let‘s jump right back into it, shall we?
Lucy #448: You commence by shouting out, ―Sexual immorality is SIN!!!‖
(sigh) … Lucy, I realize that the following information probably wasn‘t available to you
for much of your lifetime (information that is the Truth nonetheless), and that information is this:
Homosexuality has nothing at all to do so with sex or sexual acts. It has to do with whom
homosexuals find attractive and whom they choose to Love …
Now homosexual people can have sex, of course, and the Elohim in the Bible were
without question against that ―sin‖ (see their extremely judgmental opinion of homosexual sex in
Leviticus 18:22 & Leviticus 20:13), and yet homosexuality itself is NOT a sexual condition, nor
does it require sexual expression. And all of the Bible verses you use to ―prove‖ otherwise do
not do so. They all, without exception, only evince that homosexual intercourse &/or in some
cases homosexual lust is a sin, NOT homosexuality itself.
Indeed, if the picture that started this thread had shown Oliver Clyde Allen and his
husband having sex or groping each other sexually (or even ―making out‖), we would be having a
very different discussion. And yet that is not what is pictured, and that is not the question that
was asked. The question that was posed was – Would you simply go and hear Oliver Clyde
Allen preach on any given Sunday? And nothing in that original image or in that question has
anything to do with what he might or might not be doing in the privacy of his own home before
or after that sermon. Yes, it is true that Oliver Clyde Allen is a homosexual pastor, and yet that
does NOT make him a sinner!
So, now that this has finally been sufficiently clarified (surely you finally understand this
concept, yes?), I am sure you will finally agree that – at least according to the Bible –
homosexuality is not a sin, and that you now therefore would have the humble decency to go and
hear Bishop Allen preach if invited to do so … right?
P.S. While it is true that the lust that is indeed sometimes manifested in homosexual
relationships is a biblical sin, it is very important to remember that so is adultery (see Deuteronomy 22:22
+ Leviticus 20:10), and so is merely fantasizing about a sexual partner other than your husband or wife
(see Matthew 5:27-28), and so is a woman not bleeding after her first act of intercourse (see Deuteronomy
22:20-21), and so is being the victim of a rape (see Deuteronomy 22:23-27), and so is seeing an
immediate family member naked (see Leviticus 20:17), and so is having sex with your wife while she is
on her period (see Leviticus 20:18). Indeed, my dear Friend, many of these lust-based sins are far more
prevalent in our world today than homosexual lust (or even homosexuality in general) and yet you don‘t
mention these sins at all in your Facebook feed. And for you to single out an entire class of humanity –
many of whom are NOT sinning at all – and label them as reprobate sinners (& even announce that they
are worthy of an eternity in Hell); well, that is about as clear an expression of bigotry (or
at the very least, ignorance) that one could ever hear.
