Lucy-Spew #37 … Walking in Freedom
Lucy: Oh yes Scaughdt, I have read the truth in God‘s Word, and it is all I need for exposing sin
-- so that truth can be revealed and fellowship with God can be restored …
―Sin in our lives is similar to a ring in a bull‘s nose. Just as the ring empowers the owner
to lead the bull around at his own will, so Satan is able to lead us wherever he pleases when we
allow sin to stay in our lives. When we sin, we put ourselves into bondage and servitude. We
become Satan‘s servant and do his bidding. Jesus said, ‗Whosoever committeth sin is the servant
of sin.‘ (John 8:34) The feeling of being enslaved to sin is familiar to all of us …
However, Jesus does not leave us in the captivity of Satan. In Luke 4:18, he says that his
purpose is to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners. Through the power
of his death on the cross, he offers us the opportunity to die to ourselves in openness and
brokenness in order to be made free. ‗Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with him, in
order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
for he who has died is freed from sin.‘ (Romans 6:6–7) It is possible to be free from lust! …
Christ‘s victory over sin and death has set us free from bondage. This release does not
mean temptation will cease. James 1:14 says, ‗Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of
his own lust, and enticed.‘ What then is the freedom we have in Christ? It is the freedom to do
what is right! You know you are free when you can make the choice to resist temptation and
follow after righteousness. God empowers us to walk in freedom from the bondage of sin. ‗Like
as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life.‘ (Romans 6:4 -- see also Galatians 2:20 and Galatians 5:24)‖ 64
A true follower of Christ will lead others to Christ. Are you doing that, Scaughdt, or are
you leading them to destruction; making light of sin; claiming that it does not matter in God‘s
eyes? I would have to say that you are working for Satan in upholding what God does not! It
does not bother me when you say that I'm judging others because I know what the Word says
and how we are to judge. So you can keep using that line of attack if you want …
Ephesians 5:11-12 says ‗Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but
rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret,‘ and Psalm
94:16 states, ‗Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand for me against those
who practice iniquity?‘
You can judge me all you want, Scaughdt. I know what Jesus commands of us and how
he wants us to live. He is very clear in his Word! … I don't have any doubts in my walk with
Christ! … I carry the Peace of Christ with me always!
Scaughdt: Well, well, well … Every time I think we have wrapped things up here, you & yours
keep adding on with additional misapplications of Scripture and additional pro-Paul dogmatic
discourse. Fair enough – it looks like the book that was once going to be ―only‖ 200 pages long
is now going to be well over 800! … So be it.
conservative evangelical organization dedicated to ―introducing people to the Lord Jesus Christ‖.
