Simon: I used to hate Christianity until I read the Bible. Most particularly, the words of Jesus
melted my heart. Paul just seems torn and confused to me, but I guess bumbling and wellmeaning
most of the time … To an outsider like me, Leviticus and the like just seem barbaric
and strange. Not mysterious at all – sort of reminds me of bullies who stuff kids in their lockers
… And as far as Sodom & Gomorrah are concerned, I just see it as some dudes who try to rape
some angel investigators, and then some guy throws his virgin daughters into the fray to defend
himself against their horrific intentions. This story, to say the least, is a very unstable basis for
any moral code … And by the way, why did God make ―eunuchs by nature‖, as Jesus said He
did (Matthew 19:12)? Who were they supposed to fuse with to become ―one flesh‖?
Several ancient sources seem to suggest that this may be have been a euphemism
for homosexuals, or even those folks who are born with an ambiguous gender.
Lucy-Spew #29 … Speaking the Truth
Lucy: Why are you so upset, Scaughdt? I only speak the truth of the Word of God, and if it
offends you then I have to say that I am only sorry that you can't understand that Word! …
Christians will always be willing to share the love of Christ with the unbeliever, and tell them of
the sacrifice that Jesus made for them – namely, that they too can be a follower of Christ; that all
it takes is repentance and faith …
Homosexuals living in sin is not turning their lives around and living for God. Indeed,
these homosexuals that are married go against what God has ordained to be an acceptable
marriage, so they are in fact not married at all in God's eyes. And if they are having sex (as
married people do), then that sex is sin, as the act of sex between anyone outside of marriage is
sin! In fact, the only ones who are not sinning when they have sex are married couples -- male
and female! Jesus has said what a marriage is -- look for yourself. You claim to be a Bible
scholar, and yet I simply open my heart to the truth of the Word of God.
Scaughdt, I know right from wrong -- and I know what sin is -- and I know the way out of
sin. I will not bow down and accept what God has said is sin, so just accept that and go on
without continuing to ―put up a good fight‖ for those sinners … In the end it is their choice to
either live for Christ or for themselves.
Scaughdt: I‘m actually not that upset at all, Lucy (a little saddened for you & yours – that you
refuse to follow The Way of your supposed Lord & Savior, and yet not that upset about the same) …
Much more importantly, whether or not your staunch defense of arrogance & ignorance &
bigotry is upsetting to me personally, the real issue in this thread is whether or not your
judgmental Paulinism would be upsetting to Jesus Christ – which, of course, it most certainly
would be … Please consider:
―Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be
judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your
neighbor‘s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your
own eye, and then you will see clearly to identify the speck in your neighbor‘s … Whoever becomes
humble like a young child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven … Be perfect [in your Love] as your
heavenly Father is perfect [in His].‖ ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-5 + Matthew 18:4 + Matthew 5:48)
