In conclusion, while I make no arrogant claim that Jesus is definitely right and Paul is
definitely wrong, I most certainly do remind Christians & non-Christians alike that the teachings
of the two are not compatible, that a choice between the two gospels must be made, and that it
might indeed be wise to err on the side of following (i.e. emulating, & thereby enlivening) the
teachings of Jesus and discarding those of Paul (at least in those places where the latter contradict the
words &/or the ideals of the former).
―Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, because they
exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the
Creator … Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his ministers
also disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness. Their ends will match their deeds.‖
~ ironically, from Paul (Romans 1:24-25 & 2 Corinthians 11:14-15)
―Everyone who does not abide in the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it, does not
have God; whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.‖ ~ 2 John 1:9
Daniel #058: You then go on to follow with, ―Upon receiving that truth his accusers
started saying that he was taking God for granite*.‖ … And I would say that they were
completely correct in doing so, keeping in mind that many of those accusers were Jesus‘ own
disciples (see Acts 4:15-31, 2 Corinthians 11:4-5, 2 Corinthians 11:22-24, Galatians 1:6, Galatians 1:18,
Galatians 2:11-21 & Galatians 3:1-3) – men who had actually walked and talked with Jesus during
his ministry; men who admittedly didn‘t fully comprehend the pure selflessness that Jesus was
teaching, and yet men who had learned a significant portion of the same from him in person.
*As far as your inadvertent use of the word
―granite‖ in place of ―granted‖ here, consider the
following most-appropriate verse – ―The stone
which the builders rejected has become the chief
cornerstone.‖ ~ Psalms 118:22
