Scaughdt: Hmmmm … You are once again theologically all over the place here, Lucy. Most
of the time you & yours have openly affirmed in this conversation that homosexuality itself is a
sin, and yet every now and then (like now) you have admitted that the Bible indeed does not
condemn homosexuality itself, but rather condemns homosexual sex (& to a degree homosexual
lust). And this is exactly the problem I have mentioned from the beginning! For if that is indeed
the case (as it most certainly is), then it is bigoted of you & yours to single out the sin of
homosexual lust when other lust-based mortal sins (for example, straight people fantasizing about
having sex with someone other than their spouse – see Deuteronomy 22:22 + Matthew 5:27-28) are far
more prevalent and far more sinister than homosexual lust ever could be … AND it is patently
hypocritical of you & yours to publicly condemn gays for their mortal sins when you & yours
have not cleansed your own ―cups‖ beforehand!
And to make matters even more poignant, this post is about a homosexual couple who
happen to be devout Christians, and it happens to be about whether or not you would even listen
to a gay minister preach the Word of God – and you said that you would not do so, even if he or
she was not living lustfully. As such, you most certainly have singled out gays in this post, Lucy
– and as far as I can tell you quite clearly have not mentioned most of the other mortal
sins anywhere else on your own Facebook page either … This is bigotry – this is
hypocrisy – and this is not The Way of Jesus Christ!
And then there is the problem of you refusing to listen to this particular gay minister
preach because of his lust-based sins (if he even currently has any, which we can safely assume he –
just like you & yours – does) while simultaneously being fully willing to go and listen to a
heterosexual preacher preach despite him sinning just as egregiously … That is bigotry, Lucy,
plain and simple. And that bigotry has victims, my Friend. That bigotry fuels ignorance, that
bigotry inspires hatred, that bigotry instills intolerance, and that bigotry ultimately leads to
violence – and that bigotry has no place whatsoever in the Kingdom of Jesus‘ all-Loving Father …
But let‘s not take my word for it. Let‘s allow Jesus himself to clarify the issue once again, yes?
―Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor‘s
eye, but do not notice the log in your own? ... You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and
then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor‘s ... Truly I tell you, unless you
change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes
humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom … All who exalt themselves will be humbled,
but all who humble themselves will be exalted … You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup
[of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence ... First clean the inside of your own cup, so
that the outside might also become truly clean … Let [she] who is without sin cast the first stone.‖ ~
Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2, Matthew 18:3-4, Luke 18:14, Matthew 23:25-26 & John 8:7)
