Daniel #110: Next, you mention what Diana said about the ―Eunuchs‖ mentioned by
Jesus in Matthew 19, and yet you do not mention my response to Diana which illuminated that
passage for you in a way that harmonizes with the teachings of Christ. Allow me to reiterate the
same, that you might also be allowed to interpret this very important passage (especially in relation
to this particular thread) in a more ―Christ-like‖ way …
When it comes to Matthew 19:12 – the only time in the entire New Testament where Jesus
specifically talks about sex in general (and possibly homosexuals as well), several Truths are important
for the earnest student of Scripture to remember … While it seems true that in all likelihood the use
of ―eunuchs‖ in this passage possibly has little to do with homosexuals as we understand
homosexuality today, it does refer at the very least to more than merely those who have been
castrated to serve in royal harems. And this analysis is probably true – if for no other reason than
Jesus would almost certainly not have dedicated the telling of such an important lesson to such an
extremely limited audience. There is also no mention in the Bible itself of eunuchs having asked
him this question, or of any eunuchs even being present when he uttered these words.
As such, in all probability, as with the rest of Jesus' teachings, the lessons in this passage
are meant for all of us – namely, A) that we should all ease up on our lust (all lust; heterosexual as
well as homosexual – see Matthew 19:12*) … and B) that we should all strive to avoid the Lovedampening
confinements of marriage if at all possible (see Matthew 22:30).
*NOTE in this verse that Jesus does not call out or reprove or condemn or even mildly
criticize those who he knew would disobey these particular edicts; instead telling ―those who
can‖ to adhere to them. And this in & of itself is a proof that Jesus wanted nothing at all to do
with Leviticus 18:22 or Leviticus 20:13, because if he was going to strictly uphold them (as you
& yours claim he did), then his words in Matthew 19 would have much harsher. Of course, if his
words would have been insulting or bigoted in any way, then they couldn‘t have come from the
Son of an all-Loving God, now could they!
