Ship #7276 aborted. It, too, was unable to stay in formation. No.<br />

4 engine was rough and throwing oil causing <strong>the</strong> pilot, Lt. Rizer<br />

to fea<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> prop. It was considered an engineering abortive.<br />

Ship #7563 aborted. It was unable to stay in formation. No. 2<br />

engine three oil from top to bottom <strong>of</strong> nacelles thru cowl flaps.<br />

This was considered an engineering abortive.<br />

29 June 1944: Nine ships <strong>of</strong> this squadron took part in a mission<br />

to Leipzig, Germany. Due to adverse wea<strong>the</strong>r prevailing, <strong>the</strong><br />

mission was recalled. Ships were in <strong>the</strong> air for a period <strong>of</strong> four<br />

hours. They did not get far enough into enemy territory for<br />

mission credit to be given to <strong>the</strong> personnel involved.<br />

Neils C. Jensen; No Navigator; <strong>Bomb</strong>ardier, 2/Lt. Robert C.<br />

A total <strong>of</strong> thirteen new crews reported for a tour <strong>of</strong> duty during<br />

<strong>the</strong> month. Some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m have already participated in operational<br />

30 June 1944: There was no mission scheduled for <strong>the</strong> 30 . Ground<br />

school and training activities were carried out. Also, it was pay<br />

day for both <strong>of</strong>ficers and enlisted men.<br />
