five separate missions over enemy occupied territory per GO #38, HQ 1 BD, 20 Dec. 1943:<br />

21 December 1943:<br />

Personnel Changes; No Changes<br />

Flying: Three NC flew on a local flight for a total <strong>of</strong> 6:00 hours.<br />

22 December 1943;<br />

Personnel Changes: S/Sgt. Peters from duty to sick in quarters LD.<br />

Mission: To Osnabruck, Germany: Seven A/C <strong>of</strong> this squadron took <strong>of</strong>f at 1060 hours to bomb<br />

<strong>the</strong> Transportation Center <strong>of</strong> Osnabruck Germany, very important marshalling yards which are<br />

surrounded by a large freight station, repair shops for rolling stock yard locomotive sheds. No<br />

accurate AA fire was reported on this mission. But <strong>the</strong>re were 25 enemy fighters described as<br />

FW190's and ME109's were reported seen from vicinity <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> I P thru and beyond <strong>the</strong> target.<br />

They made many attacks during this time and damaged <strong>the</strong> aircraft <strong>of</strong> our group which did not<br />

return, being last seen leaving <strong>the</strong> formation at <strong>the</strong> enemy coast line on <strong>the</strong> way home. No<br />

bombing results were observed due to 10/10 cloud cover.<br />

Ship #803 (324th Ship), Lt. Hackleman (P), was forced to return to base very shortly after take<strong>of</strong>f<br />

due to heavy leakage in <strong>the</strong> oxygen system.<br />

All ships <strong>of</strong> this squadron returned safely. No Casualties:<br />
