22 March 1945: The German Military Camp at Dorsten , Germany was<br />

attacked on this day visually with fair to good results. Target<br />

was well hit but bomb pattern is well scattered. Thirteen ships<br />

<strong>of</strong> this organization took part in <strong>the</strong> mission as follows;<br />

crew; #636, Lt. Harvey and crew; #909, Lt. Sc<strong>of</strong>ield and crew;<br />

Lt. Brown and crew; #263, Lt. Dean and crew; #615, Lt. Martinson<br />

and crew; #841, Lt. Lawson and crew; #431, Lt. Hunt and crew;<br />

#225, Lt. Blanchet and crew; #610 (401 ), Lt. Smiekel and crew.<br />

All thirteen returned safely and <strong>the</strong>re were no abortives.<br />

23 March 1945: The marshalling yards at Coesfeld , Germany felt<br />

our bombing as <strong>the</strong> strike photographs show good to excellent<br />

results. Of <strong>the</strong> twelve ships and crews that took part, all<br />

returned safely to base and, <strong>of</strong> course, <strong>the</strong>re were no abortives.<br />

24 March 1945: The 24 was an unusual day for this group but not<br />

th<br />

for <strong>the</strong> first time for this group to complete two missions in <strong>the</strong><br />

same day. Early morning <strong>the</strong> target was Vechta , Germany . All<br />

three squadrons bombed <strong>the</strong> airfield visually with good results.<br />

The three twenty-third took <strong>the</strong>ir turn at “stand down” so did not<br />

participate in this mission. However, in <strong>the</strong> afternoon, <strong>the</strong> 323 rd<br />

squadron flew <strong>the</strong> high squadron with Ridgewell and Nu<strong>the</strong>mpstead,<br />

attacking <strong>the</strong> airdrome at Twente-Enscheden, Holland . This<br />

squadron bombed visually with excellent results as per <strong>the</strong> strike<br />

photographs. Thirteen ships and crews participated in this second
