15-16 Jan. 1945: The railway works and workshops at Ingolstadt .<br />
Germany was <strong>the</strong> main feature for <strong>the</strong> day for this group. Our<br />
squadron had a "Stand Down" but sent one ship and crew, #379, Lt.<br />
Shambaugh and crew. Three <strong>323rd</strong> men flew on crews in <strong>the</strong> 401st<br />
squadron. <strong>Bomb</strong>ing was done by PFF methods with good results. On<br />
th <strong>the</strong> 16 , training activities were carried out with good<br />
attendance.<br />
17 Jan. 1945: The Railway workshops at Paderborn . Germany was<br />
<strong>the</strong> subject for our target on <strong>the</strong> 17th. <strong>Bomb</strong>ing was done by PFF<br />
methods and all three squadrons lead ships had good runs. But<br />
bombing was unobserved. 12 ships <strong>of</strong> this squadron participated.<br />
Major Taylor led <strong>the</strong> group (commanding <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>of</strong> <strong>323rd</strong><br />
Squadron), in Ship #630, and <strong>the</strong> "A" crew; #490, Lt. McKnight and<br />
crew; #116, Lt. H<strong>of</strong>fman and crew; #618 (Dep. <strong>Group</strong> Lead), Lt.<br />
Bull and crew; #909, Lt. Sc<strong>of</strong>ield and crew; #806, Lt. Williams<br />
and crew; #083, Lt. Sweet and crew; #841, F/O Adams and crew;<br />
#636, Lt. Lawson and crew; #755 (322nd), Lt. Flynn and crew;<br />
#379, Lt. Brown and crew; #431, Lt. Holliday and crew. All<br />
returned safely and <strong>the</strong>re were no abortives.<br />
18-19 Jan. 1945: Wea<strong>the</strong>r evidently was adverse as we were not<br />
scheduled for flying and <strong>the</strong>re were no ships flying practice<br />
missions. Ground school and training activities were carried out<br />
with great success.<br />
20 Jan. 1945: Our target for <strong>the</strong> 20th was <strong>the</strong> marshalling yards<br />
at Ludwigshaven , Germany . <strong>Bomb</strong>ing was done by PFF methods with<br />
unobserved results. Strike photos plotted bombs to fall in <strong>the</strong><br />
city. Thirteen ships <strong>of</strong> this squadron participated in <strong>the</strong><br />
mission. However, two aborted due to engineering difficulties.<br />
Ships and crews aborting were Lt. Lawson and crew in ship #144<br />
(401st) and ship #552, Lt. Whitten and crew. The remaining crews<br />
to finish and complete <strong>the</strong> route were: #478, squadron lead, Lt.<br />
Donohue and crew; #083, Lt. Sweet and crew; #939, FIO Adams and<br />
crew; #841, Lt. Bull and crew; #431, Lt. H<strong>of</strong>fman and crew; #836,<br />
Lt. Shambaugh and crew; #379, Lt. Brown and crew; #806, Lt.<br />
Williams and crew; #490, Lt. McKnight and crew. All returned<br />
safely.<br />
