13 December 1943:<br />
Personnel Changes: Sgt. Fegeley from sick in quarters LD to duty. Sgt. Reich wounded in action<br />
(remains duty).<br />
Mission: To Bremen_ Germany: Seven A/C <strong>of</strong> this squadron took <strong>of</strong>f at 0830 hours on a mission<br />
to Bremen, Germany to bomb <strong>the</strong> center <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> city. At <strong>the</strong> target AA fire was moderate and<br />
accurate for our A/C at 26,000 and 28,000 feet. There was no enemy fighter opposition and our<br />
fighter support was reported as exceptionally good. <strong>Bomb</strong>ing results were generally unobserved.<br />
All ships <strong>of</strong> our group returned safely.<br />
Casualties: S/Sgt. Walter W. Reich was slightly injured by flak fragments sustaining abrasions<br />
about <strong>the</strong> face.<br />

Awards and Citations: 2/Lt. Edward J. Kaiserski 0-741569, for meritorious achievement while<br />
serving as <strong>Bomb</strong>ardier on a B-17 Airplane on a mission over Germany, 3 November 1943. When<br />
approaching <strong>the</strong> target a twenty MM cannon shell exploded in <strong>the</strong> nose compartment <strong>of</strong> his A/C<br />
seriously wounding <strong>the</strong> Navigator and causing o<strong>the</strong>r serious damage. Lt. Kaiserski coolly<br />
remained at his bombsite and released <strong>the</strong> bombs accurately on <strong>the</strong> target. Having accomplished<br />
this, he moved his wounded comrade, administered emergency first-aid and <strong>the</strong>n manned <strong>the</strong> nose<br />
guns, skillfully fighting <strong>of</strong>f vicious frontal attacks on his aircraft. The courage, coolness and<br />
technical skill displayed by Lt. Kaiserski reflected great credit upon himself and <strong>the</strong> Armed Forces<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> United States; per GO #224, HQ 8th AF, 13 December 1943.<br />
