THAIL<strong>AND</strong><br />

All personal names are given as habitually romanized by the artist or writer in question in Thai with the<br />

sequence <strong>of</strong> first or personal name first. Romanization is frequently, but not always, a<br />

transcription into roman letters <strong>of</strong> Thai orthography whose pronunciation rules in Thai are<br />

unfamiliar in English. For example, ‗Kamol‘ is actually pronounced ‗Gamon‘ in Thai,<br />

‗Poshyananda‘ is pronounced as ‗Posyanorn‘ et cetera. That is, final ‗l‘ in transcription is usually<br />

pronounced ‗n‘, and final consonants are <strong>of</strong>ten unpronounced, only semi-voiced, or otherwise<br />

varied. Thai romanizations thus vary considerably and usually transliterate Thai orthography<br />

without directly transposing Thai sounds. For convenience, romanization here largely follows<br />
