Infection by HIV-1: Revision of infection control
techniques on a standard model
Mathematical modeling of the HIV-1 infection dynamics has allowed
to achieve several theoretical approaches to the infection control problem.
Although the different control schemes applied on diverse
mathematical models have the same final objective (to reduce the viral load
in the infected individual), the different approaches registered in the
bibliography differ in the action of the exogenous control inside the model
and in the techniques used for the control design.
The aim of this work is to demonstrate on a standard mathematical
model that the design of control strategies that differ in its action inside the
model and/or in the technique of design lead to diverse interpretations of
the results and of the potential effects on the patient, in spite of possessing
in all the cases the same final objective (to reduce the viral load).
