Scholars with different disciplinary
backgrounds are welcome with
papers or posters on the above mentioned
or other themes. Themes
and sessions will be put together by
convenors. Early proposals are more
likely to find a place in the program.
Participants will only be inserted
in the final program after formal
registration. Short versions of
accepted papers and posters (maximum
two pages) will be published
in advance on this homepage and in
the conference portfolio. After the
conference a selection of papers will
be published in a thematic volume
and in special journals.
Registration at lowest fee: before
20th of May 2001. The organiser
will, on request, issue certificates to
be used for applications to employers
or funds for travelling grants,
when a paper/poster has been accepted.
Fee: 2,000 SEK before 20th
of May 2001. 2,400 SEK after that
date Includes material, coffee, lunches,
official dinner, social events.
Reduced fee: 1,000 SEK after
special application with certificate
from supervisor confirming that the
scholar is a doctoral or master’s student.
The organiser has found ways
and means to support the participation
of young scholars and guests
from less favoured regions. In the
latter case, it may also include partial
support for hotel and travelling.
These cases will be treated individually
by the organising committee.

Call for Papers
For a volume of critical essays addressing
those cultural spaces bordering
on the meteorological, we
seek proposals that explore the role
of weather in culture, literature, and
the arts.
Weather, we assume, underpins
the basic material and emotional
forces that form the basis of how
we live. Every region has its own
weather-from the cold and blustery
to the temperate and serene-as
well as ways to represent it. Our
daily conversations are so often
about the weather, yet discussions
of these meteorological influences
have received surprisingly little at-
