assist entrepreneurs in taking business decisions. In his article, the author presents
the notion of economic information and industrial espionage, the legal basis for such
activities in Poland, and the breaches of regulations related to the profession, which
has appeared in our country only recently.

Jacek Mazur: Cooperation between the NIK and the ECA
in Conducting Audits 122
NIK auditors who participate in audit missions of the European Court of Auditors
(ECA) conducted in Poland need to know its proceedings and audit methodology.
In the future, it can facilitate attempts to carry out joint audits. In October 2011,
at the NIK a workshop was held dedicated to this issue. The programme of the
workshop comprised two types of auditing: audits related to the statement
of assurance (DAS), on the basis of audits in the field of agriculture and public
procurement related to Structural Funds, and performance audits, on the basis
of audits of Structural Funds and Common Agricultural Policy resources.

The Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union Member States
and the European Court of Auditors, who are members of the Contact Committee,
gathered in Luxembourg on 13-14 October 2011 at their annual meeting. They
discussed, among others, the importance of new aspects of the UE economic
governance for the SAIs, audits related to EU matters, activities aimed at ensuring
reliability of national statistics, the draft Financial Regulation, the European Stability
Mechanism, the reports of working groups and the new initiatives of the Contact
Committee.
ZBYSŁAW DOBROWOLSKI: The Role of SAIs in Fighting Fraud
and Corruption 135
An international seminar dedicated to the role of Supreme Audit Institutions
(SAIs) in fighting fraud and corruption was held in Budapest at the end of
November 2011. In the seminar, representatives of the SAIs of the Visegrad Group
participated, as well as representatives of Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia,
Moldova, the Netherlands, Russia, Serbia and Slovenia, and also of the European
Court of Auditors, the European Anti-Fraud Office, Hungarian prosecutors and
guests from the Embassies of France and the USA. The article presents the issues
of the meeting.
