Estimated Time In Commission (ETIC)—Estimated time required to complete required<br />

maintenance.<br />

Execution—Command-level approval for initiation of a mission or portion thereof after due<br />

consideration of all pertinent factors. Execution authority is restricted to designated command<br />

authority.<br />

Familiar Field—An airport in the local flying area at which unit assigned aircraft routinely<br />

perform transition training. Each operations group commander will designate familiar fields<br />

within their local flying area.<br />

Firm Scheduled Return Time (FSRT)—Scheduling tool used by air mobility units to predict<br />

when crews will return to home station. FSRT for active duty, ANG, and AFRC is defined as<br />

SRT plus 24 hours.<br />

First Suitable Airfield (FSAF)—The first suitable airfield available after completing the<br />

Category I route segment.<br />

Fix—A position determined from terrestrial, electronic, or astronomical data.<br />

Fuel Reserve—Amount of usable fuel that must be carried beyond that required to complete the<br />

flight as planned.<br />

Global Decision Support System (GDSS)—AMC's primary execution command and control<br />

system. GDSS is used to manage the execution of AMC airlift and tanker missions.<br />

Global Patient Movement Requirements Center (GPMRC)—A joint activity reporting<br />

directly to the Commander in Chief, US Transportation Command, the Department of Defense<br />

single manager for the regulation of movement of uniformed services patients. The Global<br />

Patient Movement Requirements Center authorizes transfers to medical treatment facilities of the<br />

Military Departments or the Department of Veterans Affairs and coordinates intertheater and<br />

inside continental United States patient movement requirements with the appropriate<br />

transportation component commands of US Transportation Command.<br />

Ground Time—Interval between engine shut down (or arrival in the blocks if engine shutdown<br />

is not scheduled) and next takeoff time.<br />

Hazardous Cargo or Materials (HAZMAT)—Articles or substances that are capable of posing<br />

significant risk to health, safety, or property when transported by air and classified as explosive<br />

(class 1), compressed gas (class 2), flammable liquid (class 3), flammable solid (class 4),<br />

oxidizer and organic peroxide (class 5), poison and infectious substances (class 6), radioactive<br />

material (class 7), corrosive material (class 8), or miscellaneous dangerous goods (class 9).<br />

Classes may be subdivided into divisions to further identify hazard (i.e., 1.1, 2.3, 6.1, etc.).<br />

Improved Container Delivery System (ICDS)—Improved CDS bundles utilize a 26-foot ring<br />

slot high-velocity parachute and wind drop sondes dropped before the cargo drop to get a more<br />

accurate in-flight CARP. ICDS are usually dropped only from high altitudes.<br />

In-Place Time (IPT)—Time when an aircraft and crew are at an operating base and prepared to<br />

load for the mission.<br />

Instructor Supervision—Supervision by an instructor of like specialty (see also Direct<br />

Instructor Supervision).
