Th e Interacting Socializer likes to be treated with warmth, friendliness,
and approval. Because he favors interacting with people on more
than just a business level, he wants to be your friend before he does
business with you. If a client suggests meeting for lunch, a social drink,
or dinner and asks things like, “What exciting things are happening
with you?” you’re probably dealing with an Interacting Socializer.
Like the Dominant Director, the Interacting Socializer shares a
quick pace. While the Dominant Director busies himself with tasks,
the Interacting Socializer tends to move about the offi ce in a fl urry of
activity. He even walks in a way that refl ects his optimism and quick
pace . . . lively and energetically. He observes and “sight-sees” as he
goes, avoiding obstacles and potential problems.
Interacting Socializers like to bounce ideas off others
Interacting Socializers think out loud. Desks confi ne them, so they
typically stroll around the offi ce talking to nearly everyone, from the
custodian to the boss along the way, calling them by their fi rst names.
All the while they seek others’ reactions to almost anything and everything,
but they visibly warm up to comments about themselves.
