rice & tree cropping systems and ii) rice & tree &<br />
other food cropping systems. These two categories<br />
represent around 70% of surveyed farms. There<br />
is almost 20% of farms specialised only on rice<br />
production and 8% on rice and other food,<br />
however, these together represent only around 10%<br />
of the total surveyed area. At district level, it can be<br />
seen from Figure 41 that the rice & tree crop mix<br />
is typical for all the districts. The rice & other food<br />
& tree category is widespread in all the districts,<br />
except Kailahun. Rice only and rice & other<br />
food can be found only in the Northern districts<br />
representing together 20% and 40% of the surveyed<br />
smallholders in Tonkolili and Bombali, respectively.<br />
Figure 42 and Figure 43 further illustrate the<br />
distribution in the sample of farm households<br />
growing rice (upland, lowland or mixed) and<br />
tree crops (cash crops coffee and cocoa; and<br />
subsistence crop oil palm) at the district level.<br />
