Overall, the results indicate that important<br />

productivity shortfalls are present in both<br />

regions. These are mainly due to the current<br />

production technology, pest management, pre<br />

and post-harvest losses (i.e. facilities, timely<br />

access to inputs and output markets) (Box 3).<br />

The data collected also reflects that there is<br />

potential to reach production levels which<br />

allow farmers to cover a higher proportion of<br />

their basic needs.<br />
