Toning Developer (1943)<br />

Produces tones varying from brown to red on chlorobromide papers.<br />

SOLUTION A<br />

Water at 70F/21C, 750.0 ml<br />

Pyrocatechol, 20.0 g<br />

Sodium sulfi te, 100.0 g<br />

Potassium carbonate, 100.0 g<br />

Potassium bromide, 2.0 g<br />

Water to make 1.0 liter<br />

SOLUTION B<br />

Ammonium sulfate, 2% solution<br />

Normal working solution<br />

Solution A: 200.0 ml<br />

Solution 250.0 ml<br />

Water: 250.0 ml<br />

Expose the print so the desired density is reached in 2½ minutes at 68F/20C. To increase redbrown<br />

tones take equal parts of A and B. To increase cold brown tones decrease B, and for<br />

red tones increase B.<br />

*Potassium carbonate, 21.0 g<br />

Potassium bromide, 10% solution, 11.0 ml<br />

Water to make 1.0 liter<br />

SOLUTION B<br />

Water at 125F/52C, 750.0 ml<br />

Hydroquinone, 8.0 g
