Varigam toner 6T-2:<br />

Water, 750.0 ml<br />

Thiourea (thiocarbamide), 3.0 g<br />

Sodium carbonate, 45.0 g<br />

Water to make 1.0 liter<br />

Varigam toner 6T-3:<br />

Water, 750.0 ml<br />

Thiourea (thiocarbamide), 3.0 g<br />

Potassium carbonate, 48.0 g<br />

Water to make 1.0 liter<br />

Various combinations of bleach and toner will give different tones as shown by the following<br />

table:<br />

Bleach in Tone in Type of Tone Resulting<br />

6B-3 6T-1 Deep brown, slight purplish tint.<br />

6B-1 6T-1 Deep brown tint.<br />

6B-2 6T-3 Increasing warmth with a golden tinge until a bright sunlit<br />

6B-1 6T-3 sepia is produced with these three combinations.<br />

6B-3 6T-3<br />

6T-2 can be used instead of 6T-3 for a cooler color.<br />

Gold tone modifi er:<br />

Gold chloride, 1.0 g<br />

Potassium thiocyanate, 6.0 g<br />

Water to make 1.0 liter<br />

This bath can be used directly on a print to produce a blue-black tone. It may also be used<br />

on prints that have been toned in any of the preceding methods. <strong>The</strong> toned print is fi rst<br />

immersed in a 3% sodium chloride solution.<br />

Sodium chloride solution:<br />

Water, 750.0 ml<br />

Sodium chloride, 30.0 g<br />

Water to make 1.0 liter
