9.5.3 Replacing the VSAT Interface Module (VIM)<br />

The VIM is the interface between the antenna cable signals (power,<br />

internal modem communication, RX IF and L-band TX) and to the<br />

cable to the LNB /BUC and PCM. The VIM also provides power to the<br />

LNB and BUC and all other modules in the ADU.<br />

The VIM has two LEDs for status and troubleshooting:<br />

• Power LED: green or Off<br />

• <strong>Service</strong> LED: green or red<br />

To replace the VIM, do as follows:<br />

<strong>Service</strong> LED<br />

1. Open the service hatch by releasing the two latches.<br />

2. Switch off the power to the antenna on the service switch.<br />

Removal and replacement of ADU modules<br />

Tools needed:<br />

• 4 x 150 mm Allen key<br />

(located inside the<br />

service door of the ADU)<br />

• 8 mm open-end spanner<br />

• 11 mm open-end spanner<br />

• 18 mm open-end<br />

spanner<br />

• Flat head screw driver<br />

3. Rotate the antenna pedestal so that the arm of the GPS module<br />

faces the service hatch.<br />
