<strong>Peru</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>, The (IN) - Monday, October 24, <strong>2011</strong>Elsie Branam, 84, <strong>Peru</strong>, died at 9:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, <strong>2011</strong> at Memorial Hospital. She was born May 29, 1927 inKnoxville, Tenn. to Clifford Howard and Oreen (May) Howard. She married Vernon Branam on April 19, 1963 and hesurvives. Elsie was a homemaker and a member of EastPointe Bible Church. She is survived by her husband; daughters,Carolyn L. Shaffer, <strong>Peru</strong>, and Margaret (Richard) Taylor, Knoxville, Tenn.; four grand children, Marty Murphy, TommyMurphy, Wes Shaffer and Steve Shaffer; her brothers, Jim Howard, C.W. Howard and Paul Howard, all of Knoxville, Tenn.;and a sister, Margaret Smathers, Alamogordo, N.M. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and one great greatgrandchild.A memorial service will be held at East Pointe Bible Church, 1540 E. Third St.<strong>Peru</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>, The (IN) - Wednesday, October 26, <strong>2011</strong>Brent "Duke" Sherrick, 38, of <strong>Peru</strong>, passed away at 7:02 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, <strong>2011</strong> at Saint Vincent Hospital,Indianapolis. He was born Sept. 22, 1973 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Nancy (Bedwell) Turpin, and the late Robert Sherrick. Hemarried Donna (Bowles) Sherrick, Dec. 31, 1993 and she survives. He was a member of the Mount Hermon MissionaryBaptist Church. Duke was known as a Mr. Fix It, Jack of all trades. He loved spending time with family and friends, and nevermet a stranger. Duke is survived by his wife Donna, his mother, Nancy, and seven children: sons Brent Sherrick, <strong>Peru</strong>, JeremyHendricks, <strong>Peru</strong>, Nicholas Sherrick, <strong>Peru</strong>, Joshua Hendricks, W.Va., and daughters Alicia Sherrick, <strong>Peru</strong>, Heather Myers,Selma, Ind., and Rachel Torres, Va. Also surviving are three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert,and a brother, Earl Ray Sherrick. A memorial service will be Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Mount Hermon Missionary BaptistChurch, 451 W. Second St., 5 p.m. with Pastor E.J. Lacy officiating. Parkman, 82, of <strong>Peru</strong>, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, <strong>2011</strong> at Blair Ridge Health Campus in <strong>Peru</strong>. Hewas born in <strong>Peru</strong> July 4, 1929, the son of John and Adabelle Murphy Parkman. John Married Jessica “Kiki” Weis in <strong>Peru</strong> onFebruary 12, 1956 and she survives. He was a 1947 graduate of <strong>Peru</strong> High School. John was a Korean War veteran serving inthe U.S. Marine Corps, and was employed as an engineer on the Norfolk and Western Railroad for more than 42 years, retiringin 1989. He was a member of the American Legion, Glen Owens Post #14. Surviving in addition to his wife Kiki, are his sons:Mark Parkman and his wife Terie of <strong>Peru</strong>; Michael Parkman and his wife Cathy of Acworth, Georgia; and Clay Parkman andhis wife Carolene of <strong>Peru</strong>; a sister, Kay Parkman of Saopaulo, Calif., a brother-in-law, Ron Gustafson of <strong>Peru</strong>; grandchildrenNicholas Parkman, Emily Davenport, Jared Parkman, Megan McConnell, John Morgan Parkman, Brittany Parkman andJessica Parkman. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Ellie Parkman, Tessa Davenport and Karter Gilleland. He also leavesbehind his beloved dog, Gracie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Carol Gustafson. There will be novisitation or funeral service. The Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Life member ofthe VFW Post 4353 also the American Legion Post 136, Moose Lodge 1954, and life member of the Elks Lodge, a formermember of Masonic Lodge in Macy, Ind., as well as Maennerchor in <strong>Peru</strong>. He was also a member of the Pine Island UnitedMethodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Marjorie E. Runkle; two daughters Bonita Fox of Mexico, andBrenda Phillipy of Logansport; son Larry Wayne Runkle of <strong>Peru</strong>; two brothers Hubert Runkle of Fort Wayne, and DonaldRunkle of Angola; a sister Norma Pugh of Georgia.
