He wasborn July 15, 1916, in Alto, the son of David and Amanda (Spranger) Greeson. On Sept. 14, 1939, he married Gertrude IreneMcCarter at the Methodist Parsonage in Forest. Harold graduated from West Middleton High School with the class of 1935.He then attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. Harold was employed at Greeson’s Sand & GravelCompany and for approximately eight years was a chemist in the lab at Continental Steel during World War II. He went on towork for Midwest Plating in Kokomo, retiring after 33 years as a chemist. He was a member of the Bennetts Switch MethodistChurch He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was born on June 12,1918, to Oscar and Kittie Karr Samuelson. He came to Rochester from Iroquois County, Ill., after graduation to work at theArmour Creamery which was then managed by his brother-in-law. He married Anita Zimmerman on Oct. 15, 1940. Shepreceded him in death in 1995. He also was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and three sisters. He was draftedby the U.S. Navy in May 1944 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II on the USS LST 867. When he returnedhome from the war in May 1946, he started his career with the Nickel Plate Railroad and worked for them until his retirement.He loved sports and knew the standings of most teams in baseball, basketball, football and golf. Pitching horseshoes was one ofStanley's forte.' With a flick of the wrist and an eye for the stake he was crowned as champion during a few area tournaments.In his early years Stan enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. More recently he could be seen in the stands as a fan followingthe sports teams of his great-grandchildren. He was an avid bowler but after his retirement, found his true passion playing golf.Weather permitting, he played almost every day. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He is survived byone son Phil Samuelson, and two daughters, Joyce Sroufe, and Judith Overmyer, seven grandchildren, two of whom still live inRochester, Sarah Daulton and Erin Leap, and 12 great-grandchildren.
