Shewas born on March 10 1945 in <strong>Peru</strong>, Indiana, to the late Thurman and Lessie (Smith) Warren. Mary retired from UnitedTechnologies in Huntington, Indiana. She collected Elvis and frog memorabilia. She also was an avid NASCAR fan. She issurvived by son Edward Hawkins, Converse, daughter Ellen (Kenneth) Slaven, Alexandria, Ky., daughter Bonita (Robert)Morgan, Indianapolis, brother Delbert (Louise) Warren, Sweetser, five grandchildren; Wayne and Tiffiny Slaven, Andrew andTara Sizemore and Christopher Morgan, great grandson Adrian, great grand daughter Audrey Rose, and close friend NancyCox. Allen Music, 46, of rural <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind. died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, <strong>2011</strong> in Miami County. He was born Jan. 19, 1965 inWabash to Clarence O. Music and Thelma A. (Martin) Lewis. Allen was a 1983 graduate of Southwood High School. Hemarried Lori Sumpter in Wabash, on Oct. 2, 2004. He was employed at M&B Body Shop, Wabash and also was a carpenterand electrician. He was a member of the Wabash Church of Christ. Allen enjoyed skeet shooting, hunting, and vehiclerestorations. He was an outstanding softball and baseball player. He is survived by wife, Lori Sumpter, daughter, AshleyMusic, and step-daughter, Alexandria Sumpter all of rural <strong>Peru</strong>; parents, Thelma and Paul Lewis and Clarence and LindaMusic all of Wabash; sister, Rose (Doug) Statts of Wabash; brother, Kenny Music of <strong>Peru</strong>; step-brother, Bill Smedley ofWabash; two step-sisters, Erica (George) Gebhart and Paula (Scott) Hunsberger both of Churubusco, Ind.; parents-in-law,Larry and Pauline Sumpter of Wabash. Calling hours: 2-5 p.m. Sunday, one hour before service.<strong>Peru</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>, The (IN) - Saturday, December 3, <strong>2011</strong>David Ramon Beck, Sr., 79, <strong>Peru</strong> went to be with Our Father in Heaven on Sunday, Nov. 27, <strong>2011</strong>. He was born in <strong>Peru</strong> toFrank and Mabel (Quinn) Beck on July 8, 1932. He graduated from Chili High School in 1951, where he was a proud memberof Bob Macy’s first basketball team. After high school he served in the United States Navy during both the Korean andVietnam wars as an Electricians Mate First Class, and played on the Naval basketball team as a starting point guard, along withstarting pitcher for the Naval fast pitch softball traveling team. He brought his skills back to Miami County and traveled the tristatearea amassing a record of 636 wins and only 32 losses. One of these was defeating “The King and his Court” in the 70’s.During his service to our country he was awarded the Korean Service Medal (two stars), United Nations Service Medal,National Defense Service Medal twice, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the Republic of Vietnam Campaignmedal. After he retired from the Navy he went to work for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad where he worked as a conductorand train engineer for 17 years before retiring. David was a member of Roanoke, Huntington, Wabash, North Manchester and<strong>Peru</strong> American Legions and VFWs where he held several posts along the way, including Chaplain. He was also a member ofthe Eagles, Elks, Moose and The Lions Club. He was the announcer for the Little League home games in Andrews, Wabashand <strong>Peru</strong>. He was an avid basketball enthusiast, enjoyed watching Chris Smith play golf at Rock Hollow, sponsoring childrenfrom St. Jude’s Hospital, enjoyed listening to his two favorite singers, Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle, whom he grew up withplaying bingo; and of course, spending time with his family, friends, and newest great-granddaughter, Isabella Nicole. Davidis survived by his loving children, David R. (Lisa) Beck Jr., Roxann Beck, Sandra (Chris) Avery, Debra (Kenneth) Pierce,Kathryn Bailey, Albert (Angel) Ousley, Tamara (Edward) Robertson; 17 wonderful grandchildren, Dustin, Jasmine, Gloria,Krystal, Alisha, Brian, Amanda, Amber, Caleb, Trisha, Donna, Lisa, Ashley, Rusty, Jake, Cynthia, and Melinda. He is alsosurvived by several great-grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Miller and Elizabeth (Craig) Bruce, and several nieces andnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ronald Beck, and two sisters, Eloise Phiffer and JoanneMitchell. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, <strong>2011</strong> at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., <strong>Peru</strong>. The funeral ceremony will follow,11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at the Marion VA Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make adonation to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in remembrance of David.
