A quiet woman of great faith, she was a member of the FirstAssembly of God of <strong>Peru</strong>. She and her husband operated a KOA campground in Corbin, Kentucky, retiring in 1982. Born March 24, 1921near Macy, he was the son of Lester S. and Madge A. Calloway Carvey. On Jan. 29, 1950 at the Fulton Baptist Temple, hemarried Donna Richter, and she survives. Dee was a lifetime member of Macy Christian Church and a member of the MacyMasonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country during World War II.After graduating from Macy High School, Dee graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1942 and workedfor Shirley Brothers Mortuary, Indianapolis. After his father passed away, Dee returned to Miami County to manage and farmthe family’s land. He attended Manchester College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education. He obtained his master’sdegree from Saint Francis College, Fort Wayne. He taught for over 40 years at schools in Burton, Plymouth, <strong>Peru</strong>, andRochester, where he retired from Columbia Elementary School in 1985. Dee returned to funeral service in 1992, working atMcClain Funeral Home, Denver. Dee is survived by his wife; one daughter, Kaye (Brad) Hermann, Macy; one daughter-inlaw,Gloria M. Carvey, Rochester; three granddaughters, Tanya K. (Sean) McKee, Rochester, and their children, Kelsey,Kensey, and Karsyn; Lisa A. (Shane) Reffett and their son, Jack Carvey Reffett; and Stacey A.
