Funeral arrangements are pending by McClain Funeral Home, withvisitation Monday and the funeral service on Tuesday. Born May3, 1930 in <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind. she was the daughter of Maurice Druhot and his wife Helen. She was married to Richard Allen Fisher,Oct. 26, 1962 in <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2002. She is survived by her mother, Helen Biggs Tucker,<strong>Peru</strong>; five children, Dru Fisher, Houston, Texas; Lori (Bruce) Cress, Twelve Mile; Beth (Kevin Studebaker) Fisher, SouthWhitley, Ind.; Dan Fisher, Rochester; Don (Megan) Fisher, Kingman, Arizona; one brother, Marvin Tucker, <strong>Peru</strong>. She waspreceded in death by her father, Maurice; stepfather, Joe Tucker; one sister, Jeanne Bitsko; and one brother, Don Tucker.There will be no services or visitation at this time. McClain Funeral Home, Denver has been entrusted with arrangements.<strong>Peru</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>, The (IN) - Saturday, December 3, <strong>2011</strong>Susan Dorthea (Schaefer) Birk, 76, of <strong>Peru</strong>, died at 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 29, <strong>2011</strong> at IU Med Center in Indianapolis.She had been ill for the past year. She was born on Nov. 7, 1935 in Fort Wayne, to Louis F. and Evelyn (Burdue) Schaefer. Shewas graduated from LaPaz High School in 1953 and was married to Ralph E. Birk on Aug. 1, 1954. He preceded her in deathon Dec. 27, 2008. Susan and Ralph built their own home in Plymouth, where they resided from the time of their marriage until1967 when they moved to <strong>Peru</strong>, after they purchased the One Hour Cleaners. She was also part of Miami Computer Services,Inc. for nearly 40 years, a business Ralph and her started in 1968. She did the data entry (keypunching) and made deliveries offinished work. Until her death, she did bookkeeping for One Hour Cleaners. Having been born during the Great Depression andliving through WWII, she was part of the generation that married in the 1950’s and found that opportunities were nearlyendless. After high school, she worked for Emmco Insurance in South Bend, until the birth of her first son in 1958, when shespent the next several years raising the two sons, being involved in various school and scouting functions and such. She bowledin a league for many years also. She and her husband for many years planted a large garden, to which she canned and frozenumerous vegetables and fruits. An avid baker, she made thousands and thousands of cookies over the years whether it was aschool event when her sons were small or for the holidays. She and her sister-in-laws and her mother-in-law would gather andcan homemade vegetable soups and would also work on quilts. She also did a lot of sewing in the earlier years includingmaking many of her own clothes. She is survived by her two sons, Christopher L. Birk of <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind. and Alan E. (June) Birk ofGilbert Ariz. and grandson Regan E. Birk. She is also survived by a brother John (Betty) Schaefer, Plymouth and a sister JudithDeFries, Elkhart and by a very dear friend Lori Lees, Bunker Hill. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces. She waspreceded in death by her parents, husband and by 3 brothers: Louis Schaefer, Thomas Schaefer and Richard Schaefer (all ofMarshall County, Indiana). Viewing will be Sunday, Dec. 4 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Flowers Leedy Funeral Home, <strong>Peru</strong>.Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m., officiated by Pastor Evan Strong, Bunker HillUnited Methodist Church. Burns, 66, Macy, passed away at 1:41 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, <strong>2011</strong> at Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo.Born Nov. 14, 1945 in <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind. he was the son of the late Robert Thomas and Cora Lillian Scott Burns. David enjoyedplaying Euchre and UNO with his family. He collected hotwheels and matchbox cars. He enjoyed attending horse pulls, tractorpulls, auctions and demolition derbies. He had worked at U.S. Gypsum in Wabash and was a member of the <strong>Peru</strong> MooseLodge. He is survived by his wife Linda Burns, Macy; one son, Robin E. Burns, Vincennes; three brothers, Bernard (Diane)Burns, Macy; Richard (Jane) Burns, Rochester; and his twin brother, Daniel (Cheryl) Burns, Wabash; along with several niecesand nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and John Burns. Funeral serviceswill be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, <strong>2011</strong> at McClain Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Spencer officiating. Visitation will befrom 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. She was born July 24,1912 in Lansing, Ohio, to John DeBin and Daisy (Scory) Long. Malvina married Ernest Ball in Wabash, Ind. on Aug. 25,1939; he died May of 1973. She performed with the Ringling Brothers Barnum Bailey Circus several years and performed withher sisters as an acrobatic team until 1939. She co-owned, along with her husband, Ernie’s Drive-In in Wabash. She was amember of the Circus Fans of America. Malvina enjoyed gathering herbs for making tea, and loved teaching her grandchildrenlife lessons. She is survived by four children, Madeline (Gordon) Bolinger of Kokomo, Ind., Lana (Jerry) Long of Wabash,Tom (Ginny) Ball and Ernie (Barbara) Ball, both of rural Wabash County; step-son, Don (Lois) Ball of Middletown, Ind.; 22grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, one step son,two sisters, a grandson, and a great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241
