Shewas born July 5, 1937 in Aomori, Japan to Sadazo and Mesa Kwata. On July 16, 1964 she married James Owen Norton inSaporo, Japan, and he preceded her in death Jan. 6, 2000. Nicky was a homemaker, and was active in Home Ec Club in CassCounty, and was a member of Onward Christian Church in Onward. She loved her grandchildren dearly, and she enjoyedplaying bingo and doing crochet. Survivors include her daughter Christina Norton and her companion, Mac Erwin ofLogansport, a daughter Paulette (Dennis) Sipe, Walton; two grandchildren, Bracy and Mylie Sipe of Walton. She is alsosurvived by her sister, Ukea Saito of Japan; brothers Hiroshi Kwata, Hisao Kwata, and Yochio Kobayashi, all of Japan; and asister in law, Carla (Phillip) King of Mason W. Va. She was preceded in death by her husband James, a brother, and both herparents. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with the Rev.Rod Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton IOOF Cemetery, Walton. She wasborn in Warsaw July 23, 1927, to Howard and Marie Craft. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Gilead High Schoolin 1945. Eager to serve her country, Janice entered the Army Cadet Nurse program at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. WorldWar II ended before her nurse's training was completed, so no military duty was served. However she graduated as a registerednurse, and served the people of her community proudly for more than 40 years. Before her retirement, Janice spent most of hercareer at Dukes Memorial Hospital in <strong>Peru</strong>, where she was known as "Nurse Robbie." She also worked at Wabash CountyHospital for a time. She was known as a compassionate and professional nurse, beloved by patients and well respected by herpeers. During her lifetime Janice enjoyed genealogy, antiques, playing Scrabble or Euchre, and her memberships in Daughtersof the American Revolution and the Miami County Historical Society. Survivors include her younger sister, Sue Craft See andher five children: Neil (Kathy) Robison, Spanish Fort, Ala.; Juli Smith, Indianapolis; Jill (Dominick) Imperio, Ocala, Fla.; JoyRobison, New Milford, Conn.; and Karl (Teri) Robison, Bunker Hill. Janice was also a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildrenand one great-grandchild. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Howard Craft, Jr. A celebrationof life memorial will take place at a later date. He worked at Mount Hope Cemetery and Catey Dairy, both in <strong>Peru</strong>. He loved the circus, especiallythe <strong>Peru</strong> Circus.
