Jean was born on July 1, 1930 in Jonesboro, Ind., to Mack Johnson and Florence (Worden) Adams, whom have precededher in death, along with one brother, Mack Warren Johnson. Jean married Robert J. "Cork" Grant on April 28, 1950. "Cork"also preceded her in death on July l0, 1995. Survivors include one son Robert Joe Grant and wife Trina, <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind., daughterCandace Ann Burt and husband Edward, <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind., three grandchildren, John Adam Perkins and wife Yatta, Knoxville, Tenn.,Delora Diane Burke and husband David, LaPorte, Ind., and Mathew Robert Grant, <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind. She wasborn in New Castle, Ind., on July 16, 1961. She was the daughter of Jean (Atkins) and David Jackson. Gerri married MarkMcIver in <strong>Peru</strong>, Indiana, on July 10, 1993, and he survives. Gerri graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1979and received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1998 from Indiana University at Kokomo. She went on toobtain her Master's degree at IUPUI with honors in English/Language Arts, Spanish, and Administration. She was working onher Doctorate in education (Ed.D) at the time of her passing. Gerri taught Spanish and Language Arts to 7th and 8th graders atMaple Crest Middle School from 1998 to 2010. Some of Gerri's favorite hobbies were sewing, gardening, and spending timewith her granddaughter and grandson. She sewed everything from American Girl doll clothes, to curtains, blankets, and evencostumes for Maple Crest Middle School's plays. She was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed hiking and camping and spent time inColorado every summer with her good friends. Gerri's zest for life was immeasurable. She brought joy to all around her andwas known for her smile and her positive outlook. She never met a stranger, and the sound of her laughter will be rememberedby many. Surviving in addition to her husband Mark are daughter: Heather (Chris) Mote of Indianapolis, Indiana, step-son:Ryan McIver of Phoenix, Arizona, step-daughter: Cassandra (John) Dee of Phoenix, Arizona, step-daughter: Megan McIver of<strong>Peru</strong>, Indiana, granddaughter: Kira Mote, Grandson: Ethan (EJ) Dee, sister: Beth Jackson of Kokomo, Indiana, Brother: David(Amy) Jackson of Indianapolis, Indiana. William was retired as the owner/operator of Fishback's Shoe &Tack, and also retired from being a travel trailer driver. He enjoyed training horses with his daughters. He also graduated from Franklin College and received his Masters Degree from IndianaUniversity. Barry also served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
