She wasborn in New Castle, Ind., on July 16, 1961. She was the daughter of Jean (Atkins) and David Jackson. Gerri married MarkMcIver in <strong>Peru</strong>, Indiana, on July 10, 1993, and he survives. Gerri graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1979and received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1998 from Indiana University at Kokomo. She went on toobtain her Master's degree at IUPUI with honors in English/Language Arts, Spanish, and Administration. She was working onher Doctorate in education (Ed.D) at the time of her passing. Gerri taught Spanish and Language Arts to 7th and 8th graders atMaple Crest Middle School from 1998 to 2010. Some of Gerri's favorite hobbies were sewing, gardening, and spending timewith her granddaughter and grandson. She sewed everything from American Girl doll clothes, to curtains, blankets, and evencostumes for Maple Crest Middle School's plays. She was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed hiking and camping and spent time inColorado every summer with her good friends. Gerri's zest for life was immeasurable. She brought joy to all around her andwas known for her smile and her positive outlook. She never met a stranger, and the sound of her laughter will be rememberedby many.
