<strong>Peru</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>, The (IN) - Tuesday, May 17, <strong>2011</strong>John A. Marks, 88, passed away Sunday, May 15, <strong>2011</strong> at his home in Fort Wayne. Born in <strong>Peru</strong>, John worked as amanufacturer engineer with General Electric for 43 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Quarter Century Club at G.E.Apprentice Alumni Association, Second Air Division Association, Miami Indian Tribe of Oklahoma, Southwest ConservationClub and the Reserve Officers Association. John flew 18 combat missions as a bombardier and navigator in the EuropeanTheater during WWII. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Air Force Reserves with 30 years of service. He enjoyedfishing and working with his hands, building many furnishings, including their home. John loved his family and cherished hisgrandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Elaine Marks, of Fort Wayne; sons, Jon Marks, Rick (Heidi) Marks, DennisMarks, Leonard (Donna Carrico) Marks, all of Fort Wayne; Bruce Marks of East Moline, Ill.; daughter Judy J. (John) Slatton,of Fort Wayne; brother, Joe (Jody) Marks, of Kent, Wash.; sister, Susie Bailey, of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren and eightgreat-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by parents George and Susie Marks; brothers, George Marks Jr. and DavidMarks; sisters, Percella, Mary and Marcella. Service is 2 p.m. Saturday at D.O. Ed was a fabricator for Moon Fabricating in Kokomo. He also owned Coldiron Construction Company. He enjoyedhunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. She was born in Whitley County Aug. 7, 1918 to Cary L. and Melissa (Simcoe) Cormany.She married Howard “Red” Badger March 18, 1939, and he preceded her in death March 23, 1988. Pauline was a homemaker.She was a member of the EastPointe Bible Church and the Moose Auxilary. She is survived by her nieces, Sharon (Larry)Casper, North Manchester, Connie (Joe) Funk, Huntington, and Arlene (Bud) Keirn, North Manchester. Pauline was precededin death by her husband, her parents, six brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. She was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson Township HighSchool. She was a director and member of both the Indiana and American Dairy Goat Associations. She was active in theIndiana State Fair helping in the Dairy Goat Department serving as Project Superintendent.
