He was born August 19, 1939 in Miami, Indiana, the sonof Alva and Margaret (Armstrong) Lesher. Michael graduated from Clay High School in 1957. He graduated from Ball StateUniversity with a BS degree in business, and also received his CPA license. He first worked as a CPA for Price Waterhouse, inFlorida. Eventually, he moved back to Kokomo and opened his own CPA business with a partner, called Bond and Lesher. Helater retired and went back to the job he really loved, which was farming. Michael loved the idea of owning land, farming,being outdoors and raising sheep. He also had a love of boating. He was very proud of his boating trip, in which he sailed fromthe Saint Lawrence Seaway down the east coast of the United States to the southern tip of Florida on his boat. He was an avidreader of history and he enjoyed jazz music. He was also a member of the Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church. He issurvived by five children, Cassandra (Lesher) and Jamie Knolinski of Russiaville, Michele (Lesher) and Arne Pedersen ofZionsville, Lisa (Lesher) and David Van Vlerah of Dayton, Ohio, Lance and Sage Lesher of Portland, Oregon, and LaurenLesher of Evansville; four grandchildren, Grace Ellen and Jyllian Knolinski, Faith Pedersen and Jesper Ivory Lesher; andcousins, Paul and Chiquita Kuntz of Kokomo, and Bill Kuntz. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January15, <strong>2011</strong>, at the Allen Funeral Home, 115 S. Elm St. in Bunker Hill, with Pastor J. Robert Clark officiating. Friends may callfrom 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Agness, 99, <strong>Peru</strong>, passed away at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 13, <strong>2011</strong> at Miller's Merry Manor, <strong>Peru</strong>. He was bornin Howard County on Dec. 1, 1911 to Earl and Hazel Pence Agness. Thurman married Dorothy Reed on March 10, 1934, andshe preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1964. He married Marguerite "Peg" Woodmansee on May 28, 1966 at Main StreetUnited Methodist Church, <strong>Peru</strong>, and she survives. Thurman was a 1929 graduate of Clay Township High School and a retiredMiami County farmer. A man of great faith, he was an active member of McGrawsville United Methodist Church, where heserved as a lay leader for over 30 years and also served as Sunday school superintendent for 24 years. Thurman is a formertrustee of Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and served as lay delegate to the Annual Methodist Conference for 30 years.Thurman and Peg wintered in Bradenton, Fla. for 34 years and he was active on various boards at Bradenton Castle, includingserving as chairman of the Bradenton Castle Board of Directors. They thoroughly enjoyed traveling and traveled extensivelythroughout the U.S. and abroad. Thurman and Peg lived at Blair Ridge in <strong>Peru</strong> for the last nine years, and he was the unofficial"Mayor of Blair Ridge," as he took great interest in its operation. Thurman was a devoted husband, wonderful father and funlovinggrandfather. He will be remembered by his family and friends for many things, among them: his unwavering dedicationto God and his church, his singing and musical ability, how he whistled while he worked, his incredible memory of familyhistory, his frugality alongside his generosity, his uncanny ability to remember what things cost "back in the day," hisstorytelling, his enjoyment of leadership, his extensive knowledge of ditching (a family joke), his good business sense, andmost of all, his unflinching integrity. Surviving in addition to his wife Peg is a daughter, Elaine Glassburn, Bunker Hill; a son,Jay (Kathy) Agness, Cedar Falls, Iowa; sisters, Geneva Willson, Kokomo, Ruthanna Borden, <strong>Peru</strong> and Carolyn (John)Einselen, <strong>Peru</strong>, a brother, Gene (Fern) Agness, Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Teri (Doug) Roberts, Tami (Rick) Allison,Robyn (Bill) Gruber, Kari (Matthew) Halko, Susan (Kenneth) Larimer, Kevin Glassburn, Michael (Eliana) Agness and Marcia(Michael) Kochel; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Larimer, William Kochel, Kate Kochel, Brian Roberts, Bradley Roberts,Benjamin Allison, Bethany Allison, Abbie Allison, Bill Gruber Jr., Kellie Gruber, Jerrod Gruber, Julia Agness, Ryan Halkoand Mason Parrott. He was born in Van Lear, Ky. on Jan. 8, 1922 to Paris E. Smith and Cora A. (Osborne) Smith. He was married to Edith(Levsay) Smith on March 22, 1947 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 1994. William was a World War II Armyveteran and a 31 year member of the American Legion. He was a life member of the Eagles, VFW and Literary Aid Society.He was a carpenter and a retired maintenance worker for the <strong>Peru</strong> Foundry. He is survived by two sisters, Jaunita Wilson,<strong>Peru</strong>, and Lillie Grace Denney, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. William was preceded in death by his wife,
