<strong>Peru</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>, The (IN) - Sunday, January 2, <strong>2011</strong>James F. Becker, 82, Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at Mountain View Hospital, Las Vegas, Nev.He was born July 1, 1928 in <strong>Peru</strong>, and graduated from Ball State University in Muncie. James was an administrator ineducation in the Clark County Schools for 30 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had awonderful full life thanks to Lake Mead fishing, fine tennis courts and outstanding golf courses. There was no other city likeLas Vegas, and he proved his love for it by being a resident for 50 years. When it became evident that he had fished, golfed andplayed the courts enough, he was checked in to the health facilities at El Jen, where he received outstanding care from theirentire skilled staff. His friends and family made his life complete and he once told one of his fishing buddies he wasn’t afraidof dying, but living too long. He was ready for a new adventure with God's help. James is survived by his wife of 55 years,Beverly Becker; and daughter, Deborah Ann Becker, California City, Calif. James was preceded in death by his parents, Fredand Rose (Heitzman) Becker; and sisters, Mary Elizabeth Diver and Dorothy Boatz. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m.Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, Nev. Graveside service will be at noon Wednesday,Jan. 5, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. Donations can be made to a charity of yourchoice. She was born in <strong>Peru</strong> on Oct. 13, 1932 to Donald B. and Gertrude (Cress) Leedy. She married RaymondTresler on June 11, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2005. Ruth graduated from <strong>Peru</strong> High School in 1950 and retiredfrom Square D after 43 years. Ruth is survived by daughter Karen (Kenneth) Witt, Orange Park, Fla. and daughter Beth(Harold) Hill, Warsaw. She has four grandchildren, Derek Witt, Kristine Knowles, Tim Hawkins and Raymond Hill; six greatgrandchildren, Tyler Knowles, Megan Knowles, Braden Knowles, Danielle Witt, Brittany Hawkins and Tyler Hoyt. Alsosurviving is her sister, Shirley Holler of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents, and asister, Mildred “Babe” Cruikshank. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W.Third St. with Kenny Cole officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
