She waspreceded in death by her husband, James Betz; her parents, Florance and Marguerite (Stearns) Mumaugh; and her brother,Charles Mumaugh. Her sister, Lois Foltz, passed away March 18, <strong>2011</strong>. She leaves behind her daughter, Teja; sister, JoanMooney; and many other family members and friends. Mary was very active at Palm Gardens Assisted Living, where shelived for the past two years. She made many friends there and is missed. Weideman, 85, <strong>Peru</strong>, passed away at noon on April 21, <strong>2011</strong> at his stepdaughter’s residence in Amboy. He was bornin Kokomo on Feb. 11, 1926 to Carroll E. and Fern (Tull) Weideman. He married Vernice M. (Finster) Weideman Oct. 22,1982, and she preceded him in death Dec. 5, 2002. Ralph worked for the C&O Railroad as an engineer. He was a member ofthe First Baptist Church, <strong>Peru</strong>, the Masonic Lodge, Elks, and Eagles of <strong>Peru</strong>, and the <strong>Peru</strong> Maennerchor, as well as a memberof the Kokomo American Legion. He graduated from <strong>Peru</strong> High School in 1944, and served in World War II in the U.S. CoastGuard. He is survived by sons David (Toni) Weideman, Kokomo, Dennis (Karen) Weideman, Lebanon, Ohio, Gary (Linda)Weideman, Bloomington, Brian (Teresa) Weideman, Milford, daughter Deborah Kinney, Fort Wayne, and stepdaughterCarolyn (Allen) Crist, of Amboy. Also surviving are brothers Robert (Martha Jean) Weideman, <strong>Peru</strong>, Jack (Kay) Weideman,<strong>Peru</strong>, sisters Anna Heltsey, <strong>Peru</strong>, Martha Love, Chili, Jane (Max) Carey Ohio, and sister-in-law Rosie Weideman, <strong>Peru</strong>. He hadnine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. She was a homemaker, an artist and a business person. She graduated in 1950from <strong>Peru</strong> High School. She worked 10 years for the Fairfield High School graphic arts department. For 20 years she was aLongaberger Basket consultant, retiring as a member of the board of directors in 2001. Mrs. Welty was a member of the GraceUnited Methodist Church, New Paris. She had served on the Board of Directors of the Elkhart County American CancerSociety and as president of the Residents Council of Greenleaf Assisted Living Center. She is survived by her children,Stephan (Sheri) Scott-Welty of Shipshewana, Beth (John) Henrichs of LaPine, Ore., Brent (Sherry) Welt of New Paris, andKyra (Roy) Teeple of Milford, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Freddie and Jerry and sons moved to the United States in 1957.She retired in 1993 from Delco.
