He retired from the United States Navy where he served our country for 23 years during of whichhe received many awards and commendations. Born Dec. 27,1929, in Mexico, he was the son of the late Claude Leroy Raber and Alma (Raber) Meeks. His stepfather was the late JamesMeeks. Fred was married on Jan. 27, 1951, to Patricia Ann Lewis and she survives. Fred attended Peru High School. He was aU.S. Army veteran and retiree of the C&O Railroad. Fred loved playing cards, fishing, gardening, family gatherings andattending Chapel of Praise. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Gordon Lee Raber, Dean Leroy Raber andPhyllis Rye. He is survived by four children, Debbra (John) Fritz, Patti (Clarence) Seifert, Wilfred (Debbie) Raber, Jr., andBruce Raber. His son, Claude Steven Raber, preceded him in death. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Lecia (Fritz) Spence,Leslie (Fritz) Beauchamp, Damon Seifert, Angela (Seifert) Heishman, Mark Seifert, Jered Raber, Adam Raber, Quinn Raber,Katie Baker, Candice Baker and Sarah Baker; and 13 great grandchildren, Joshua, Alexis, Chase, Dalayna, Carson, Isaac,Rilya, Dalton, Caden, Jaden, Kilyn, Kaylee and Jackson.
