He was born in Amboy, Ind. on Nov. 15, 1923 the son of Dr. Charles and Ethel Shrock Bowland. He marriedNina Oden on March 20, 1949 at the Amboy United Methodist Church and she survives. He was a U.S. Army Korean WarVeteran and a retired Miami County farmer, retiring in 1967. Clyde was a quiet, simple man who loved his family and instilledin them the importance of being a good steward and to love nature. He will be sadly missed. Surviving in addition to his wifeof nearly 63 years, Nina, are his children Charles Bowland and his wife Mary Lou of Bunker Hill, Ind. and Paula Givens andher husband Neal of Kokomo, Ind.; two granddaughters, Janeale McKee and her husband Johnny of Indianapolis, Ind. andJamie Givens and her special friend Dave Lutton of Noblesville, Ind. Alice then married Walter Brooks, and he also preceded her in death. Alice was a1934 graduate of Amboy High School and a member of Grace Fellowship in Logansport. Alice is survived by daughters;Shirley Ann Crotts of North Little Rock, Ark., Doris Ramsey and her husband Dale of <strong>Peru</strong>, Karen Engel and her husbandJerry of <strong>Peru</strong>; a son James E. Stambaugh and his wife Tess of Kokomo; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and fourgreat-great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a son-in-law, Clayton Crotts, Jr., threebrothers, Donald Lenon, Raymond Kaufman and Francis Kaufman. Wanda was retired from Essex Wire, and was ahomemaker. She was a member of Macy Christian Church. Survivors include daughters Carol Osborne and NormaWoodward, both of <strong>Peru</strong>, and a sister, Mary Jo Woods of Rochester. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a daughter Wanda Brown Sutton, and three brothers,Robert, Leo and Marvin Chalk, and a sister, Bessie Cartwright. Funeral services will be a 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, <strong>2011</strong> atFlowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third Street, <strong>Peru</strong>, with Pastor Joyce Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. ZionCemetery in Fulton County. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday, at the funeral home.
