Rippy, 89, <strong>Peru</strong>, died at 1:10 a.m. Oct. 4, <strong>2011</strong> at Dukes Memorial Hospital. He was born June 17, 1922, inIndianapolis to Carlen and Myrtle (Lentz) Rippy. He married Frances (Millis) Rippy and she preceded him in death April 23,2001. Carl retired as a farmer. He was a second lieutenant serving in the 8th Air Force, 453rd Bombardment Group duringWW II. He was a navigator/bombardier on a B-24 participating in 36 missions over Europe. He is survived by his daughters,Cheryl (Dale) Kerschner, Denver, and Debby (Jim) Harkin, <strong>Peru</strong>; his brother, Howard E. (Fern) Rippy, Ladoga; Betty Kassig,Indianapolis; and seven grandchildren, Kate Jones, Indianapolis, Kim Popoff, Terre Haute, Mike Harkin, Westerville, Ohio,Kraig Kerschner, Columbia City, Tracey Ewell, Kyle Kerschner, Fort Wayne, and Kent Kerschner, Warsaw. Also survivingare 19 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St.Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Smith was born Aug. 1, 1927 toWilliam H. and Sarah (Stephenson) Williams. She married Ernest D. Strom and later Keith Smith, both of whom preceded herin death. Smith worked at Miller's Merry Manor for 32 years before retiring and was a member of the Moose Lodge Ladies'Auxiliary. She is survived by daughters Sandra Basey of Indianapolis and Terita (Tim) Brewing of Fort Wayne; sons Jesse(Nga) Strom of Fairfax, Va. And Lee Strom of Alexandria, Va.; sisters Agnes Bowman of <strong>Peru</strong>, Mary McIntosh of <strong>Peru</strong> andBetty Bilodeau of Wabash; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, Smith was precededin death by her parents; brothers Raymond, Delbert, Les, Louie and infant brother Leonard; a sister, Verna and an infant sisterMarjorie. The funeral will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral home, with Pastor Gary Colby officiating,with the burial at Mount Hope Cemetery to follow. Memorialcontributions may be made to <strong>Peru</strong>'s Circus Festival.<strong>Peru</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>, The (IN) - Friday, October 7, <strong>2011</strong>Anna “Baba” Tschiniak, 93, of <strong>Peru</strong>, passed away at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, <strong>2011</strong> at Dukes Memorial Hospital, <strong>Peru</strong>. Shewas born in Ukraine, June 7, 1918. She married Jacob Tschiniak in 1939 and he preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1986. Thefamily came to America March 3, 1951. She was a devoted mother, and homemaker. She attended the Ukraine OrthodoxChurch and First Baptist Church in <strong>Peru</strong>. Anna enjoyed gardening, cooking, and music. Surviving Anna are three sons,Michael Tschiniak (wife Tami), <strong>Peru</strong>, son Peter Tschiniak (wife Joyce), <strong>Peru</strong>, son Jacob Tschiniak Jr. (wife Diana), <strong>Peru</strong>, andthree daughters, Valentine Scott (husband David) <strong>Peru</strong>, Olga Wilson, (husband James) <strong>Peru</strong>, and Nadia Ebert, of <strong>Peru</strong>. She isalso survived by 12 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, and three greatgrandchildren. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday Oct. 10, <strong>2011</strong> at the First Baptist Church, 53 E. Main St., <strong>Peru</strong> withPastor Robert Adelsperger officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind. Friends may call on Sunday from 3to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the <strong>Peru</strong> Community Orchestra Foundation. Personett, 68, Akron, Ind. passed away at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, <strong>2011</strong> at his residence. He was born in Gilead,Ind. March 16, 1943 to Lawrence I. and Ellen “Lucille” (Runkle) Personett. He married Dolores Jean Bowman, August 12,1995 and she survives. Donald graduated from Gilead High School in 1961, he was a self-employed machinist. He came fromMiami County, and has lived in Akron since 1991. Along with his wife, Jean, he is survived by four daughters, Lisa (spouseMike) Siblisk, <strong>Peru</strong>, Tammy (spouse DJ) Johnson, <strong>Peru</strong>, Amy (spouse Rob) Smalley, Columbus, Melissa Horn, Mexico; fourstep-sons, Jerry (spouse Sue) Seidner, Travers City, Mich., Frank (spouse Diane) Dyer, Traver City Mich., Scott (spouseLaurie) Dyer, Traver City, Mich.; two step-daughters, Kathy Minix, Akron, Jeannie (spouse Richard) Howard, Skandia, Mich.;two brothers, Earl (spouse Ruby) Personett, Phoenix, Arizona, Harold (spouse June) Personett, Gilead; and two sisters, Marie(Bud) Nickels, <strong>Peru</strong>, Maryanne (spouse Jerry) Kuhn, North Manchester.
